Overwrite: When the overwrite box is checked (the default), all blocks on the disk are sequentially overwritten first with $E1 then $13, and finally a sequence of random data - a total of three passes. On a successful overwriting process, the program then proceeds to the next function, which is dependent upon what operations you've checked. In most cases, you should at least Zero the disk after overwriting.
Any error encountered during this process means that a previously writable block could not be overwritten, so the disk cannot be erased. To continue being able to use the disk for classified work, uncheck the Overwrite box and click DoIt. This formats, verifies and zeroes the disk.
